How did this song come about?
It happened in my dad’s crib actually. I never went to the studios. I really don’t like studios, I’m more of an intimate person. So I like vibing with creatives in that home setting. So I recorded that in my dad’s little closet area. I had made a song called “DnD” at first and Doja Cat, she made “No Police,” and I remember I was vacuuming and I was like, “Shit. This is a fire beat, it’s a fire melody.” I was like, “Bro, I got to make a part 2.” I had to make a part 2. And I remember I was vacuuming and I was like, “And if we paint a perfect picture we can make it last forever.” I was like, “Damn, that’s kind of hard.” But at the same, time I really don’t even like love songs like that because I don’t really be talking to nobody. I was just like, “Shit, what if I make a love song and just make people fall in love with it?” Because people be on games a lot, which is like, what if we just vibe out like that? So it was just like that.

When did you realize this song was a hit?
I hear it somewhere and am just like, “Wow.” Because I never really been in love like that, it’s just more the simple fact of the feeling of it. But I realized it was a hit when I dropped it on Twitter and I didn’t say anything. Whenever I drop my music, I don’t say nothing, I just be like, “Oh shit, here it go.” I dropped it on SoundCloud and people were like, “Bro, what is this?” Everybody started just singing the song and retweeting it. So I was like, okay, this is something. But now it’s really something? So it was just like, that’s fire, I appreciate it. I think it just happened, it was just God’s plan and I never put any promo behind anything I do. I think people just love this song, they love my music. It’s a feeling.

Was it inspired by a specific relationship?
I ain’t never been in love. I just like the feeling of it, because I’m a player. The “love” word is kind of strong, but I know how it feels to really like somebody when they be on games and you’re trying to talk to them and they just like that. So it’s like, ain’t no competition, just competing for attention. Who got your attention, because I want it. You feel me? I’m just trying to talk to you, I’m just trying to get your time of day. So it was really like that. Love songs, it’s a love song, but at the same time I know my own playerish ways. So it’s like contradicting myself kind of.Was it inspired by a specific relationship?
